Ohio Gets Another Sales Tax Holiday

The Ohio senate recently passed a 3-day sales tax holiday bill, giving shoppers in Ohio a tax holiday from August 5-7 this summer. Similar to last year’s sales tax holiday, the event is intended to help back-to-school shoppers save on clothing and school supplies.

As the tax experts Avalara illustrated in a post about last year’s sales tax holiday, clothes that cost $75 or less and school supplies that are $20 or less will be tax-exempt.

While a sales tax holiday is exciting for shoppers, it can be complicated for retailers. If you’re unsure about what to expect with this year’s holiday, be sure to check out Avalara’s blog about last year’s Ohio sales tax holiday and some of their other blogs about the importance of sales tax compliance.

SEO Strategy: Go Beyond Keywords to Satisfy B2B Buyer Needs

As marketing becomes more sophisticated, necessary metrics continue to evolve. One marketing facet that has changed shape while maintaining importance is Search Engine Optimization, particularly in terms of the growing B2B market.

This article from Demand Gen Report highlights Lee Odden’s thoughts on SEO strategy for B2B from his session at the B2B Content2Conversion Conference last month. Odden, the CEO of TopRank Online Marketing, said that one concern with B2B SEO is that B2B marketers are approaching it the same way they did five or six years ago.

“Make a list of keywords, use those keywords in titles, copy, and links, then share on social media and hope for the best. That doesn’t resonate with today’s empowered buyers.”

With the changing demographic of B2B decision makers and the sophisticated search algorithms released by Google, B2B marketers can’t just try to rank for specific keywords; marketers need to create content that answers users’ queries.

Read more of Lee Odden’s B2B SEO advice, including tips to improve search engine rankings overall, in the rest of the article.
