Using Middleware Correctly in eCommerce Integration Projects

Middleware tends to be an underused technology and can provide great value on integrations projects, unfortunately, it is one of the tools that people know least about. That's why, finding a company like Infoview Systems is imperative to many of our projects and clients.

Infoview Systems is a company out of Michigan with an expertise in API management and middleware. They also have a vast knowledge base of the IBM i platform and the intricacies of custom code platforms and environments. Their middleware expertise includes various ERP, WMS, and TMS-based systems and their team has a cross-platform focus. We've worked with them for multiple years now and their guidance in middleware solutions has been invaluable.

Connecting eCommerce to ERP and WMS Using Middleware

A few years back, the Briteskies team was working to implement and integrate a new eCommerce platform with a client's existing JD Edwards EnterpriseOne ERP. After reviewing a few options, it was determined by the Briteskies eCommerce team that the best integration tool would be Mulesoft. While our eCommerce developers are extremely experienced Magento developers, they needed an extra set of hands to help architect the integration solution that aligned with the eCommerce integration needs of the JDE ERP and eCommerce platforms and then implement that solution in the development and production environments.

Working together, the Infoview team and Briteskies teams identified the necessary assets and developed the connection points for connecting the assets from the various client systems to the Magento eCommerce platform. Both companies were involved in launching the client go-live and support.

Why eCommerce and Middleware Partnerships Matter

Due to our long-lasting partnership, on client projects like these, the Briteskies and Infoview  teams are able to easily and smoothly work together to create the best possible integration project aligned with the customer's needs.

At this point, the Infoview Systems team has set the client up for success as their integration tool runs on auto-pilot. Thanks to Infoview and the Mulesoft solution, the  client's eCommerce platform communicates with their JD Edwards ERP and Warehouse Management System in near real-time improving business efficiency and enhancing a positive eCommerce customer experience. In this case, Infoview's solution also includes a built-in extension point, allowing for the possibility of integrating more applications or APIs within their existing eCommerce platform.

ERP Integration Tools for Improving JD Edwards and IBM i Modernization Projects

While the above case involved JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, Infoview Systems is also well versed in IBM i needs and offerings.

Beyond their pure middleware services arm, Infoview develops and frequently updates a large portfolio of IBM i specific integration tools, Tools such as InfoConnect and infoCDC aim to make IBM i modernization and integration projects as easy as possible for customer teams tasked with connecting their IBM i applications to external systems.

infoConnect is a suite of tools which covers the complementary integration styles including APIs, events, and process automation. While some of the tools reside directly within middleware applications such as Confluent/Kafka and MuleSoft, others can be deployed on any Java-spring boot framework. In addition, there is also a change data capture tool, infoCDC, that automatically listens for DB2 changes and then streams to external applications.

With a strong understanding of the IBM i ecosystem paired with a diverse background in Java, Azure, AWS, and middleware, Infoview serves as an ideal resource whether it be for POC assistance, tricky integrations use cases, architectural advisory, or even pure RPG development.

We've always enjoyed working with the Infoview Systems team and continue to collaborate on projects requiring their Middleware assistance.
