Clarity: How It's Changed How We Manage Our Teams at Briteskies

February 2025

At Briteskies, our Leadership Team has always been dedicated to growth—both personally and as a group. We asked them how learning the importance of clarity has influenced their approach to managing people.

As we continue to evolve and adapt to the complexities of team dynamics, one lesson has proven to be especially transformative: the power of clarity. Clear communication, defined expectations, and a strong sense of accountability have reshaped how we lead our teams and work together toward our shared goals.

One of the most significant frameworks that has helped us implement clarity into our leadership style is the Leadership, Management, and Accountability (LMA) framework from EOS/Traction. This framework emphasizes the importance of setting clear priorities and expectations to better manage tasks and ensure accountability. As we’ve integrated LMA into our leadership approach, we’ve experienced a more aligned and efficient team, with stronger connections between our goals and our actions.

The Power of Clarity in Leadership Training

Our team recently engaged in CLARITY leadership training, and it has made a huge impact on how we approach communication and leadership. The training has shown us how crucial transparency and consistency are in aligning our team with common goals. Through this process, we’ve sharpened our leadership skills and become more accountable in how we communicate and operate as a team.

Clearer communication across all levels—whether through emails, tickets, meetings, or other forms of dialogue—has significantly reduced misunderstandings. It has fostered a culture where everyone understands not only their role but the collective objectives and expectations of the team. When clarity is at the core of our conversations, it eliminates the ambiguity that can slow down progress, enabling us to move forward confidently and efficiently.

Delegating Responsibility, Not Just Tasks

One of the most powerful shifts we’ve made is in how we delegate. In the past, we focused heavily on assigning tasks. However, clarity training has shown us the importance of delegating responsibility rather than simply giving out tasks. This subtle but critical shift has been a game-changer.

By giving team members responsibility, we are empowering them to take ownership of outcomes and make decisions. This creates a deeper sense of accountability and drives performance. As leaders, we’ve also learned to define our expectations with greater clarity and to encourage our team members to do the same. This clear communication helps everyone understand exactly what is required of them without the need for micromanagement, fostering an environment of trust and autonomy.

From “Figure It Out” to Clear Communication

Historically, many of us embraced a "figure it out" mentality—believing that the best way to support a team was to allow them to solve problems independently. While this approach can work in some cases, we’ve realized it isn’t always effective in keeping teams on track. Without clear expectations and direct feedback, growth can stall, and confusion can set in.

The clarity training has taught us how essential it is to be precise with expectations and feedback. By communicating more directly and thoughtfully, we’ve been able to guide our teams more effectively, ensuring they understand their objectives and how to reach them. This focus on clarity has laid the groundwork for a stronger, more accountable, and high-performing team culture.

A Company-Wide Emphasis on Clarity

One of the most remarkable shifts we’ve experienced at Briteskies is the emphasis on clarity across the entire company. As we’ve reinforced the importance of clear communication at every level, we’ve seen a dramatic improvement in how we interact with one another. It’s not enough to send a message; we’ve learned that the key is ensuring the message is understood.

Through this company-wide initiative, we’ve come to realize that communication doesn’t always land the way we expect. The crucial takeaway? Don’t assume—always confirm. By ensuring that our colleagues truly understand what’s being communicated, we’ve significantly reduced misunderstandings and improved the flow of information throughout the company.

This increased clarity has allowed us to hold ourselves and one another accountable in ways that weren’t possible before. We now have a better understanding of each other’s expectations, making it easier to manage them and achieve our goals together. This focus on clarity has reinforced our belief in creating a culture of accountability and teamwork.

In Conclusion

Clarity has changed the way we lead at Briteskies. It’s no longer just a buzzword but a guiding principle that aligns our team, builds trust, and drives performance. By refining our communication and empowering our team to take ownership of their responsibilities, clarity has made a profound impact on how we collaborate and move forward together.

The journey to better leadership is ongoing, but with clarity at the forefront, we feel more equipped than ever to lead our teams to success. As we continue to grow and learn, we know that clarity will remain a cornerstone of how we manage, support, and guide our team towards greater achievements.
