Last Thursday, November 13, Magento released the newest edition of Enterprise: Magento Enterprise Edition 1.14.1. This announcement brings with it powerful merchandising tools, responsive design capabilities, and a host of new functionalities for Enterprise merchants.
According to Derrik Nyomo, Network Administrator and a Certified Magento Developer at Briteskies, these updates are beneficial for both developers and merchants. A key benefit for developers is that the updates improve both performance and security through added support for MySQL 5.6 and PHP 5.5.
“For merchants, Google Universal Analytics and the updated merchandising tools are two great tools that every merchant can use,” says Derrik. According to the announcement email from Magento, Google Universal Analytics gives merchants access to “deeper insights, including better user-level tracking, cross-device usage data, and enhanced eCommerce reporting.”
An additional highlighted capability for merchants are the updated merchandising tools, which includes visual merchandising tools. The new drag-and-drop visual merchandising tool “lets merchants see precisely what a category page will look like to shoppers.” This allows merchants to make smarter merchandising choices and implement them easily.
While some merchants may associate updates with complications and hassles, Derrik insists that Enterprise 1.14.1 will make things easier for merchants in a lot of ways. Aside from the aforementioned updates, the new admin enhancements empower larger teams by allowing multiple administrators to make product updates at the same time.
