Posted by Bill Onion

September 19, 2012 | 2:00 PM

IBM is truly striving to evolve with the demands and expectations of the consumer. Earlier this month, Sr. Solutions Manager Heather Maryo and I had the opportunity to attend the Smarter Commerce Global Summit. With the theme Buy Sell Market Service, IBM recognizes that consumers aren't merely going online and purchasing products. People are conducting extensive research, reading reviews and detailed descriptions. They're liking and discussing items on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. It's undeniable that people are constantly connected, and that the buying cycle really never begins or ends anymore. In light of this fact, there are two things that online retailers should be focused on: mobile and social.

...And Why We're So Excited!

As we dot our i's and cross our t's in preparation for the IBM Smarter Commerce Global Summit, I can't help but be a little more amped about this conference than others. Overview

Connecting an eCommerce system to a large and stable ERP, such as JD Edwards, allows for a seamless movement of data. Implementing a New B2B eCommerce Site

Posted by Bill Onion

April 4, 2012 | 1:00 PM

“When I took office, only high energy physicists had ever heard of what is called the Worldwide Web…. Now even my cat has its own page.” Bill Clinton, Announcement of Next Generation Internet Initiative, 1996

Every individual, every group and association, every company, man, woman, child and chimp has its own page, eCommerce or otherwise – but not every B2B organization does. Understandably so, as defining, designing, developing and deploying an eCommerce site of this nature can be daunting. Equally intimidating is the fact that, if done incorrectly, a poor B2B site can have an incredibly negative effect on the bottom line.

B2B eCommerce 2.0

"The customer is always right". This golden (however much, at times, despised) rule of retail, or B2C, has long governed the curious relationship of the buyer and the seller. When applied to eCommerce, consumers have demanded sites that are more intuitive; they've requested more information, instantaneous feedback on availability and avenues to discuss, review and compare.

How do you know that the software product released into production is virtually defect-free? The one-word answer is simple, but definitely not easy: “testing”. Testing is often the single most overlooked aspect of a project. One of the most well known facts about software defects is that the longer they go undiscovered, the more expensive they are to fix when discovered.
