JDE_E1_92Since it became generally available in early October, there has been a lot of chatter about JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Release 9.2. Just as they delivered with Alta UI and increased mobile capabilities, EnterpriseOne 9.2 is another example of JD Edwards recognizing the changing nature of the industry.

As Lyle Ekdahl, Senior Vice President General Manager of JD Edwards, said about the release, “With this new release, Oracle has invested in innovation that addresses the demands of the digital economy. These kinds of dramatic improvements give rise to transformative change and can enable organizations to implement new business technologies and innovate with new products and services that were unthinkable before this release.”

The new applications found in this release provide transformational business solutions that give companies the ability to compete in the digital economy, as well as enhanced platform choices and deployment options, giving JDE customers more control over their implementation.

Here’s what you need to know about this latest offering from JD Edwards EnterpriseOne:

New Industry Applications

This release introduces two new industry applications: Advanced Job Forecasting and Outbound Inventory Management.

  • Advanced Job Forecasting is a crucial new tool for project-focused industries like engineering and construction. This tool generates project forecasts so as to prevent cost overruns throughout the project, and to more accurately manage cash flow. Advanced Job Forecasting features new forecast calculations and details such as anticipated material quantities to give more visibility to the overall project.
  • Outbound Inventory Management is great for optimizing inventory performance in the consumer goods and manufacturing and distribution industries. Using this tool is especially helpful when managing the complete Vendor-Managed Inventory. It can also help reduce business complexity for suppliers and facilitate strong customer collaboration. These new tools provide opportunities for further personalization of each unique JD Edwards EnterpriseOne implementation.

Upgrade Process

Although Release 9.2 builds on the powerful base that is EnterpriseOne, there is one noticeable deviation from prior releases: the installation and upgrade process. The new, simplified upgrade process only installs those applications that are new or changed, as opposed to installing everything in the release.

JD Edwards prepared their Learning Library for this new process, and their site contains everything you need to know in order to install or upgrade to EnterpriseOne 9.2.
